Description:   Right in front of the Magellan Stretch, the site selected to design the new Port Terminal for Passengers, the first of its type in the region, will become a major landmark and a signifier for the city of Punta Arenas, the most austral in the world. The passengers would come from different areas of the world and will depart to Antarctica among many destinations.

It holds a large scale space for all kind of events. In such a cold extreme weather, the idea of an enclosed, conditioned  public space would provide the locals an alternative during the cold months of the year to gather and make further use of the infrastructure and in particular the large atrium. Hence, we conceive this project to be a space to be negotiated between locals and visitors.

Like an architectural astrolabe , the space looks back to the stars, like Ferdinand Magellan back then did in this very location.
